About the ArtistSandra was born in 1950 and studied from 1969 to 1975 at the Western Australia Institute of Technology, Curtin University, completing an Associateship in Art Teaching. "I have worked with the medium of porcelain
since about 1976. As a material it constantly fascinates me with its
translucency, hardness, ability to carry colour and fine surface for
carving and piercing. It is sensuous to the touch both during the
making process and completed work. It has a purity and presence
unlike other clays." Sandra has had 29 solo exhibitions since 1976 around Australia, New Zealand, USA, and Germany and has participated in over 170 invitation exhibitions and competitions in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Japan, Singapore, Germany, Netherlands, Britain and the USA. Her work is held in public and private collections around the world. |
