About the ArtistPhD. (Music/Psych), B.Mus. (Melb), L.Mus.A., Honorary F.I.M.TDi grew up on a farm in the Mallee district – the youngest of four children. When she came to Melbourne to study at university Di felt alone and isolated from society. Now the mother of three adult children Di is a renowned music educator, adjudicator and examiner with a PhD in Music; and also is a highly regarded professional visual artist. Di's creativity in the visual arts reflects her in depth knowledge and experience of music. Since 1993 her artistic energies have fast become recognised and her works are held in more than 100 collections across Australia and overseas. In just ten years Di has exhibited twice in London and Paris, shown in six solo exhibitions, exhibited works in more than twenty group exhibition and donated work to various charitable exhibitions. Her work has been recognised by the community, with solo exhibitions in Melbourne opened by David Williamson (1995), Jeff Kennett (1998) and John Landy, Governor of Victoria (2001). In 2003 Di was awarded the Woman of Achievement Award from the Brain Foundation of Australia for her contribution in music and the arts. |
