About the Artist:
Katarina Sirani was born in Germany 1952 and emigrated to Australia with her parents in 1953. She grew up in Tasmania and has been painting since 1963.
Before studying Fine Arts at the Tasmanian School of Art in Hobart from 1983 - 1987, Katarina had completed numerous drawing and painting courses and found that Painting was her passion.
In 1988 she moved with her two sons to Byron Bay where her work reflected the colours and light of a sub-tropical climate. She travelled to Europe and USA in 1990 where she sold a lot of her work through private showings.
Her works are distributed throughout Australia as well as Los Angeles, Berlin, Hamburg, Geneva and South Africa.
Having moved to Sydney in 1992 and becoming involved in the corporate world, her painting was relegated to all the spare time she had and has been experimenting more with 3D pieces combining wood, mixed media and oil paint. She has accumulated a large body of work (approximately 50 pieces) which needs to come out of the folder from under the spare bed.
Her work is highly imaginative and the use of strong colours dominate all her images.
