Search terms: Figurative painting, fantasy painting

Artists Statement:

"As an artist, I am compelled to go beyond a purely decorative visual connection between the artist and viewer, to a place where my work is a catalyst of discussion, challenge, or humor. My aim is to trigger interaction between the viewer and painting and extrude an interpretation unique to that individual. I am currently studying our curious human behaviour and am fascinated by the fact that we are a social species and every cultural group on this planet come together to share a meal and I love to observe the interaction between people."

Chris Wake was born in Adelaide in 1960, and has been painting since 1976. Her Ned Kelly series was used alongside Sydney Nolan's work for the Kelly theatre production, New Zealand Festival of Arts. Her work is represented in private and corporate collections around Australia and overseas. Collections include Lady Southey AM, Heysen Family and Gary Morgan.

Chris is represented by Maree Mizon Gallery - Sydney, Collins Street Gallery - Melbourne & Kensington Gallery - Adelaide.
